Meet DJ: The Mind Behind 1 TO 100 ADVISORS Inc.
DJ’s journey began in the heart of northern Minnesota, where he grew up after his father retired from the National Park Service. Before that, DJ’s childhood was a true adventure—living in iconic places like Yosemite National Park, the Grand Canyon, and Theodore Roosevelt National Park. These unique experiences shaped DJ’s curiosity and love for problem-solving from an early age.
At just 14 years old, DJ turned his curiosity into innovation by launching his first tech company. Using an Apple IIe computer, he developed the first-ever student scheduling software, which quickly gained traction with some of the largest school districts in the U.S. By age 17, DJ sold his software company, providing enough for his first car and college tuition—a remarkable achievement that hinted at his entrepreneurial future.
After college, DJ honed his skills as a software engineer, designing mission-critical financial systems and CRM platforms for the nonprofit sector. Rising through the ranks, he eventually led product development for an IBM business partner before embarking on his next big adventure: starting his own internet company.
In true entrepreneurial spirit, DJ self-funded his venture by maxing out his credit cards (not recommended, he says with a smile). Within a few years, his company became profitable and a tech innovator in the association space, offering the very first online membership management software for member-based organizations such as chambers of commerce, trade associations, and convention and visitors bureaus.
DJ’s groundbreaking work didn’t go unnoticed. His company was featured by Microsoft in a case study for its internet innovations, leading to patent applications and attracting attention from several venture capital firms. After just a single presentation, DJ raised several million dollars in funding, setting the stage for rapid growth.
With the guidance of mentors and relentless determination, DJ scaled his company to win numerous awards, including TechPoint’s prestigious Mira Award for Sales and Marketing Innovation. Today, the products he created continue to thrive as the enterprise membership solution for Personify Corp.
Beyond his entrepreneurial success, DJ is a passionate mentor, speaker, and advocate for data-driven decision-making and scaling businesses. He frequently speaks on leadership, transitioning from startup to scale-up, investor relations, and B2B SaaS strategies. DJ’s expertise spans industries such as chambers of commerce, trade associations, and hyper-local organizations.
He has been featured on media platforms like Fox Business and Inside Indiana Business, sharing insights on entrepreneurship and innovation.
